Pastor Jody Secaur • The Mountain Preacher

Local Sevierville Wedding Officiant for Heartfelt Ceremonies

Christian and civil weddings, cabin elopements, vow renewals, and intimate ceremonies led by a pastor who calls Sevierville home.

Looking for a wedding officiant in Sevierville?

Pastor Jody Secaur, known as The Mountain Preacher, is based in Sevierville and performs Christian and civil weddings, cabin elopements, vow renewals, and intimate ceremonies throughout Sevierville and Sevier County. He officiates at homes, rental cabins, prayer gardens, gazebos, chapels, venues, and approved outdoor settings, with last-minute or same-day ceremonies available when scheduling and location requirements allow.

Because Pastor Jody lives and ministers in this community, couples receive more than a signature on a license. They receive local guidance, direct communication, and a ceremony led by someone who understands both the meaning of marriage and the practical details of getting married in Sevierville.

A local pastor for a lasting promise

Your ceremony deserves more than someone who simply signs the paperwork

Some couples come to Sevierville for a destination wedding in the foothills. Others live nearby and want to marry at home, at a church, in a garden, or at a local venue. Some have planned for months. Others are standing outside the courthouse with a marriage license and wondering what comes next.

Wherever you are in the process, the ceremony should not feel like an afterthought. It is the moment when the planning gives way to the promise. My goal is to make that moment clear, peaceful, personal, and worthy of being remembered.

I have served in ministry for more than 40 years. I can lead a Christ-centered wedding with Scripture and prayer or a respectful civil ceremony without religious language. You may use traditional vows, write your own, include your children, or add another meaningful element after we discuss it together.

Where can you get married in Sevierville?

Sevierville offers more variety than many couples realize. You can keep the day extremely simple near downtown or travel into the broader Sevierville area for cabins, gardens, foothill views, lake-area settings, and full-service venues.

  • Downtown Sevierville Gazebo: the city promotes this Bruce Street gazebo for weddings and special occasions. It is within walking distance of the Sevier County Courthouse and has nearby public parking. A city reservation is required.
  • Greenway Gazebo: located along the Memorial River Greenway, this city gazebo provides a landscaped setting near the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River and is available by reservation.
  • A prayer garden or small chapel: a peaceful choice for couples who want a faith-centered or intimate ceremony. The Mountain Preacher's location page includes prayer gardens and chapels he uses frequently.
  • Your cabin, home, or family property: personal and convenient when the owner approves the gathering and the site can safely accommodate everyone.
  • A Sevierville wedding venue: helpful for larger gatherings, receptions, indoor weather options, seating, and coordinated vendor access.
  • A city facility or pavilion: Sevierville Parks and Recreation rents gazebos, pavilions, and event facilities. Reserve the exact space and confirm whether it fits your ceremony plans.
  • A designated site inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park: beautiful, but a National Park Service Special Use Permit is required.

Marriage-license guidance

How to get legally married in Sevierville

  1. Check officiant availability. Confirm the ceremony time before making location plans that cannot be changed.
  2. Secure the location. Reserve the gazebo or venue, obtain the cabin owner's permission, or complete the permit required for the property.
  3. Get a Tennessee marriage license. Both applicants generally appear together with the required identification. An online pre-application can save time, but the license must still be picked up in person.
  4. Bring the license to the ceremony. The legal marriage ceremony cannot be performed without a valid license in hand.
  5. Exchange your vows. I guide you through the ceremony and sign the marriage documents afterward.
  6. Record the marriage. I return Sevier County-issued documents to the clerk. We confirm the proper return arrangement when another Tennessee county issued the license.

Sevier County currently states that Tennessee has no waiting period, a license may be used the same day it is issued, the license is valid for 30 days, and witnesses are not required. The officiant must return the signed documents to the clerk after the ceremony.

Permission made clear

Does a Sevierville wedding require a National Park permit?

Not when the ceremony is held in Sevierville outside Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A ceremony at a private home, rental cabin, local venue, prayer garden, chapel, or reserved city property follows the rules of that owner, venue, or government facility.

If the ceremony is held inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the National Park Service requires a Special Use Permit and restricts weddings to designated sites. Park applications are currently accepted up to 12 months in advance and must be submitted no later than 30 days before the ceremony.

A Sevierville address can cover a lot of mountain

Local details that destination couples often miss

  • Get the exact address early. “Sevierville” mailing addresses cover a broad area. Two properties with Sevierville addresses may be far apart.
  • Check the real drive time. Do not estimate from the city name alone. Mountain roads, tourist traffic, construction, and weather can change the trip.
  • Ask about cabin events. A cabin that sleeps your guests does not automatically permit a wedding, additional visitors, vendors, decorations, or extra vehicles.
  • Plan parking and access. Steep driveways, stairs, gravel roads, and limited turnarounds can affect guests and vendors.
  • Choose a weather backup. A covered porch may work for two people but not for the entire guest list.
  • Protect the ceremony time. Pick up the license well before the office closes and leave extra travel time between the courthouse, cabin, and venue.

Why Sevierville couples choose Pastor Jody

I am Pastor Jody Secaur, The Mountain Preacher. I live and minister in Sevierville, and I have spent more than four decades serving people through pastoring, evangelism, and other forms of ministry.

I am not a suit-and-tie, assembly-line officiant. My style carries the warmth of an old-fashioned mountain preacher while remaining focused on your story, your values, and the kind of ceremony you want. When you call, you speak directly with the person who will stand with you on the wedding day.

I can help you understand the license process, think through a location, prepare the ceremony, and avoid the local planning problems that destination couples may not see coming. Most importantly, I want you to walk away remembering more than the scenery. I want you to remember the promise.

Can we get a marriage license in Sevierville on a weekday?
