To obtain a marriage license in Tennessee, follow these steps:
Apply at a County Clerk’s Office: You can apply at any county clerk's office in Tennessee, and use the license at any location in Tennessee regardless of your county of residence. Both applicants must appear in person to complete the application. Some counties offer online pre-application forms to expedite the process, but you still need to visit the office to finalize and receive your license.

Provide Required Identification: Bring valid government-issued photo identification, such as a driver's license, passport, or military ID. If you're under 21, a certified birth certificate may also be required.
Complete the Application: You'll need to provide personal information, including full names, dates of birth, addresses, social security numbers, and parents' names and birthplaces.
Pay the License Fee: Fees vary by county, typically ranging from $93.50 to $107.50. A $60 discount is available if both applicants complete a state-approved premarital preparation course and present a notarized certificate of completion. If you are coming from out of state, the cost of your license in Sevier County is $41.
Immediate Use: There is no waiting period; you can marry immediately after obtaining the license.
